The recipe of Swedish chocolate balls was one of the first recipes I posted on this blog. I told you that I have a healthy version of the recipe, with almost the same result, and here it is!
I am normally not a person who choose sugar free alternatives when I am buying dessert or baking cakes, but this recipe is really good! I have made these yummy treats the last 5 to 6 times when I was craving chocolate balls. The kids love them too, so they are perfect when I don’t want my children to eat sugar. They are sugar free, dairy free, gluten free and without nuts. Try both my recipes and tell me if you can taste any difference!
The recipe is inpired from this recipe, but I have decreased the amount of oats and coconut oil. I hope you like it.
Recipe for my healthy Swedish chocolate balls
- 7 fresh dates
- 0.5 dl coconut flakes
- 2.5 tbsp coconut oil, melted
- 1.5 dl rolled oats
- 1 pinch of vanilla powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 2-3 tsp black coffee (approx.)
- Coconut flakes
Mix the dates with the coconut oil and coconut flakes in a mixer. Add the rest of the ingredients and continue mixing. Try and see how much coffee you need to get a soft dough.
Pick up and roll walnut-sized balls. Roll in coconut and let chill in the fridge.
Roll the chocolate balls in nuts or anything else you like. If you want to keep it sugarfree you don’t have that many alternatives, but let me know if you find anything else. If you want something diffrent, try liquorice powder!
